From the repertoire of Alma de Apatzingán (Apatzingán, Michoacan, Mexico). In the Southern tierra caliente lowlands of Michoacán, there is a thriving culture of harp-based conjuntos that play a style called Arpa grande or son planeco. El Lagartijo is a son from this tradition. Featuring Joanna Alvarez-Reyes on the vihuela and Rafael Herrera on the cajón, recreating the percussive effect son planeco groups achieve by having one musician drum on the body of the harp with their palms.
