about

A popular Mexican danzón composed by Esteban Alfonzo in Chiapas, Mexico, 1919. Danzónes came from Cuba into Mexico and were incorporated into the fiddle tradition. This danzón survived the transition in el Norte to accordion music, and we learned this version from a recording of the great Flaco Jiménez of San Antonio, Texas.
