Twelve tracks digitized from a cassette recorded in Mariano Romero's living room in the 1990's, when the surviving members of Los Villeros Alegres de Santa Fe got together to play some of their classic Northern New Mexican dance tunes. Mariano played second violin, Anastasio played melody, and they were accompanied by vihuela, guitar, and guitarrón. Beautiful, old-school playing by the elders in their prime that exemplifies the style and repertoire of Santa Fe stringbands in the 1950s. A santafesino orquesta tipica at it's best!

Includes a free download of our version of an unnamed tune that Los Villeros recorded (track 4). Mariano learned it from Anastasio of Tesuque, NM, who had learned it from his father, who was one of the founding members of Los Villeros Alegres. We recorded it as "La de Mariano Romero" on our album "Dale Vuelo".
