from the repertoire of Serafin Ibarra Cortes of Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. Originally composed by Isaias Salmeron.

Don Serafín is the leading living violinist of the son calentano style which is native to the Tierra Caliente region of Michoacán and Guerrero, Mexico, a style which requires a lifetime of dedication to play at the level of traditional masters. He is also a cultural activist and promotor of his tradition, which because of its difficulty has seen a decline in the younger generations. Isaías Salmerón (1892-1942), from Tlapehuala, Micoacán, was a prolific composor whose pieces helped define the son calentano style in the 1920s.
